Want An Accredited Online Degree? - Don't Cut Corners

Bookmark and Share

Online degrees are a dime a dozen. Getting an accredited online degree is a different matter.

It is imperative to make sure that the distance learning institution you choose is reputable and the courses offered are accredited.

You might be tempted to cut corners and get your certification through a mail-order or online program you see being advertised at the back of some tabloid. Bad idea!

Accreditation ensures that the online institution you choose provides quality education and the certification you get is accepted in the workplace.

In other words, accreditation is there to prevent you from wasting your time and money

In the United States, accreditation involves non-governmental entities as well as governmental agencies.

Accrediting agencies are private educational associations of regional or national scope that develop evaluation criteria and conduct peer evaluations to assess whether those criteria are met.

Institutions that requests an agency's evaluation and subsequently meets that agency's criteria are then accredited by that agency.

Without this seal of approval, what you will get after graduation is really a worthless piece of bond paper, not a genuine qualification.

So how can you tell the unscrupulous online colleges from the good ones?

Well, you can start by checking my post entitled: Avoiding Unscrupulous Online Colleges

Until then, be of good cheer
