Want A Life Experience Degree?

You Can Buy It, Give Me The Money Or Do It Right

100% of the time, a life experience degree that is advertised in a newspaper, tabloid or magazines is a total waste of time and money. They are nothing more than scam degrees being peddled by diploma mills and ripoff artists.

These unaccredited "degrees" only appeal to the very lazy amongst us who are looking to trick employers into believing they are qualified when they are really not.

However, there is a proven, legitimate way to convert your demonstrable life experience and knowledge, into college credits, that can go towards earning a degree.

If you have ever been denied a promotion to the new kid on the block because he had a university degree and you didn't (even though you were more experienced) - here is your remedy.

There are reputable colleges that have non traditional credit programs that offer students the chance to skip months, even years of college study by taking into consideration their life experiences. Examples of these life experiences are:

1) playing musical instruments (2) leadership qualities in church or communities (3) living and working abroad 4) teaching (5) voluntary work (6) military service (7) starting a business (8) realestate sales (9) investing expertise (10) building a house (11) website design and management (12) foreign language abilities

You won't be totally earning your university diploma or degree based on your life experiences though. After your initial life experience has been converted in credits, you'll still have to make up the remainder of your college credits by examinations and course work.

So how do you go about getting college credit for life and work experiences?

1. Decide on a major you want to study and then find a online school that offers it and an option of earning life experience college credits. Online colleges allows you to complete your certificate, diploma or degree at your own pace and hence you'll be able to fit your studies into your busy schedule.

Thomas Edison State College and Regis University offer prior knowledge credits but not all tertiary institutions do. Best to check with a school's admissions department first before applying.

2. After a suitable college has been found, contact their admissions section to find out exactly how to apply for life and work experience credits. You'll probably have to complete a specific application for life experience credits.

You may be asked to provide documentations of your experiences, recommendation letters, do interviews and pass some exams before being assigned credits.

3. Present your work experience portfolio in a clear, concise and persuasive way. Gather all possible documents that will help prove your expertise in a particular area and ask the college's academic counselor for help in its presentation.

Make sure you presentation is done in such a way that it suggests your competency in that area. This will provide the proof that your experiences are equivalent to some of the actual college courses you are looking to get exemption from. Also,it will allow the academic advisers to tailor the courses you'll need to take.

4. If you are in the armed forces or looking to have a wider selection of online or traditional universities accept your life and work experinces for credit, consider taking the CLEP.

Buying a life experience degree or applying to a life experience degree program is a definite no-no.

However, applying for college credits based on your life experiences, at a reputable and accredited institution can save you money and earn you a degree much faster.
