Military Distance Learning

Now you can protect and learn

If you are planning to join the military or already in it, military distance learning is now more accessible than ever before.

In the past, the demands of military duty and training made it extremely hard to find the time and energy to get a college education. Nothing was more frustrating than service members working late to finish assignments and studying for exams only to be transferred to a new location before having enough credits to graduate.

Even worse, was having to retake courses that were successfully completed at a previous base because the college at the new base wouldn’t allow the transfer of those credits.

However, the introduction of Service Members Opportunity Colleges (SOC) have solved these problems. These colleges, accessible to US military bases worldwide, have agreed to accept each other’s credits should a service member need to relocate. Therefore, there is no need to retake courses.

Furthermore, subject to evaluation, students can get credit towards a degree for prior education and military experience. Some might even be able to self-study without the need to enroll in a class.

Degrees through the Service Member Opportunity Colleges can be completed in three ways; via distance learning, classroom learning or by learning assessment. This flexibility makes success for the service member on the move much more likely.

Military distance learning offers programs in healthcare, business, communication, science, technology and more too numerous to mention. Levels range from certificates to post graduate degrees.

The combination of these courses and your military training will equip you to take advantage of the career opportunities that awaits you. You will be well prepared for life after the military.

You will have the continued respect of your colleagues, as you use your education to impact the lives of those in your community and nation as a whole.

For more information on how to enroll, visit the SOC or check with the academic counselor at your installation.
